JAMMU, Mar 12: A fire-fighting demo was organized at Fire and Emergency Service Headquarters Gandhi Nagar today for briefing Nightingangle Pre-School children about basics of fire fighting and fire prevention.
The demo included safety tips about fire situations and use of emergency number 101 to call Fire Fighters.
Kanwal Peshin, Incharge Station Officer Roop Nagar taught children about the usage of 101 in emergency and gave tips about do’s and don’t.
The children, nearly 60 in number, responded well and were seen thoroughly enjoying the demo done in play-way method. They were instructed not to play with matchboxes, not to burn crackers alone, not to play with electric items and electric wires. They were also shown a simulated demo in which clothes of a person catch fire and he rolls down on the floor and then water is spread over him to extinguish the fire. They were told not to run in such situations as fire would spread further.
Later they were shown various water spraying gadgets to make them aware about the importance of Fire Station and Fire Fighters.
The demo was creation of DG Fire and Emergency Services J&K to enhance awareness and supervised by David Zangpoo DFO Headquarters. Besides staff and management of the school others included Dr Anita Salgotra Medical Officer Dispensary Fire and Emergency Services Gandhi Nagar Jammu and RK Raina Assistant Director Kathua/Samba.
