NIA raids 4 locations in Kashmir as investigations in DySP’s case deepen

SRINAGAR, Feb 3: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today continued its raids in Kashmir in connection with a case in which DySP Davinder Singh was arrested last month while ferrying militants outside the Valley.
This is for the second consecutive day that the NIA carried raids in Kashmir in this connection. The investigating agency raided house of an orchardists Reyaz Ahmad Thokar this morning and detained him. He was questioned during the day and was later released in the evening.

They also raided the house of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Omar Dhobi at Pinjoora Shopian and detained his brother Faizan Ahmad Dhobi. He was also questioned by the NIA and later released in the evening.
The agency conducted raids at the ancestral house of Davinder Singh at Tral and seized some documents from there.
The NIA raided the house of Javaid Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar of Jagarpora Kupwara and searched his house. The operation lasted several hours and they recovered 5 Passbooks, 2 SIM cards, 2 mobile handsets, one laptop and 2 pen drives.
The raids were conducted in connection with last week’s arrest of a cop for militant links in Baramulla district of North Kashmir.
Police in Kupwara on Saturday had arrested a cop, Imtiyaz Ahmad, posted at DPL Baramulla for militant links. He was taken into custody after a suspected militant was arrested and from whose possession one AK-47 rifle was recovered. His name surfaced for having links with militants after one Fayaz Ahmad Mir son of Sonaullah, resident of Bumhama,  Kupwara was arrested on 30th January and from whose possession one AK rifle was recovered.
NIA yesterday conducted raids at five places in South Kashmir including the residence of a BJP Sarpanch.
The NIA had taken over the case of Davinder Singh who was caught in South Kashmir while ferrying two militants out of the Valley on January 11.
The searches come days after NIA officers interrogated all the accused arrested in the case. Besides Singh, the others arrested were Naveed Mushtaq Ahmed alias Naveed Babu, who was deputy commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen, Rafi Ahmed Rather and advocate Irfan Shafi Mir. Naveed’s brother, Syed Irfan Ahmed, was arrested on January 23 after he was brought from Punjab.
In the meantime, police today arrested four persons for providing logistics and shelter to militants of Jaish-e-Mohammad including foreigners.
Among the four arrested, three are Mohammad Amin, Mohammad Rafiq and Fayaz Lone and all of them belonged to Khrew area while the fourth one identified as Maqbool Dar belonged to Awantipora area.
Police said that they were providing all kind of support to the militants including those killed recently — Qari Yasir and  Abu Qasim alias Abu Sufiyan and his associates.
Police said a case (FIR number 03/2020 and 08/2020) under relevant sections of law is already registered at Police Station Khrew and Awantipora respectively.
Police said that four more suspects of Awantipora and Tral area have been called for questioning for their role in providing logistics to the Jaish-e-Mohammad militants.
