SRINAGAR, Oct 12: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today conducted multiple raids in Kashmir against militants of various outfits including The Resistance Front (TRF) who carried out recent target killings in the Valley including those of minority community.
An NIA spokesman said the agency conducted searches at 16 locations. “The raids were made in connection with the J&K terrorism conspiracy case, pertaining to conspiracy for conducting violent terrorist acts in J&K and other major cities,” the spokesman said.
He added that the raids were carried out against cadre of Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, their affiliates Al-Badr, The Resistance Front, People Against Fascist Forces and Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind, among others.
The agency has stepped up raids across Kashmir after recent target killings in which a Kashmiri Pandit teacher, a Sikh teacher and a renowned Pharmacist ML Bindroo were killed besides a non-local hawker and a driver from Bandipora were also killed.
On October 10, the agency conducted searches at seven locations in J&K and arrested two alleged TRF operatives in the LeT-TRF conspiracy case. Earlier on October 3, the NIA had also raided multiple locations in the Poonch district of the Jammu region in connection with unauthorised trade through the Line of Control (LoC), being used to fund militancy.
The raids were part of a crackdown on OGWs, who assisted TRF in recent attacks on civilians and other terror activities in the Valley.
Police said that the TRF is an offshoot of the LeT and other militant organizations.
