JAMMU, Jan 16: Demanding regularization of their services, the employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) scheme in different sections of health department continued their strike cum protest on 28th consecutive day, today at Press Club, Jammu.
Addressing the protestors, spokesperson of NHM Employees’ Association (NHMEA), Faizan A Tramboo said that they went from pillar to post to seek justice but unfortunately the Government ignored their plight. “We are serving the department from past several years but the Government seems reluctant to fulfill the demands of thousands of NHM employees”, he added.
Tramboo said they are not going to suspend the strike unless and until their genuine demands are accepted by the State Government in writing with complete acceptance in a time bound manner.
Decrying the Government’s negligent approach, Rohit Seth, NHMEA president, demanded drafting of immediate policy for regularization of their services. “We were employed under the Centre’s scheme. However, no such rules have been implemented by the Government. The worst part is the issue of regularizing our services. There are doctors and other employees who are working as part of this scheme since the past 15 years however they have not been made accountable,” he added.
He said that they would go for unabated protest and agitation if their demands were not taken into consideration by the authorities.
Meanwhile, two female NHM employees identified as Vijay Lakshmi and Asha Kumari fell unconscious at protest site. After giving them first aid, they were shifted to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment, by the agitating NHM employees.
