JAMMU, Dec 20: NHM employees across the State along with employees of various associated flagship schemes like RNTCP, NACO, IDSP, NPCDS and COB today went on 72-hour long strike to press the authorities concerned for their regularization.
A large number of NHM employees belonging to all categories assembled this morning here near Press Club and staged a protest against the State Government and Health Department.
Similarly, a protest was also organized at Press Enclave, Srinagar, where thousands of NHM employees assembled and raised slogans against the Government for not paying heed to their genuine demand of regularization.
At Jammu, Rohit Seth, president, All J&K NHM Employees’ Association (NHMEA), Jammu province, while addressing the protesting employees, said in March this year after 15 days of complete strike by NHM employees, the State Government formed a four-member committee to look into the grievances/demands of NHM employees. He said that the committee had to submit its report within a period of 2 months i.e. by May 15 but till date the committee has failed to submit its report, which shows non-seriousness on the part of the Government towards the demands of employees.

He said that the Government has forced them to choose the path of agitation by breaking many promises, one such being pay revision, which was promised by Mission Director, NHM. Seth said that instead of revising the pay of all the NHM employees, the four blue eyed employees were chosen keeping every norm aside. He said that it is clear betrayal of thousands of NHM employees and the association will not allow such favouritism to happen.
Seth demanded the Government to immediately frame a regularization policy for the NHM employees and revoke the decision of 8% increment to the favourities of MD NHM, alleging that release of this increment is not based on facts.
