RAJOURI, July 16: With an aim to keep check on the crime against women and to tackle crimes like eve- teasing and domestic violence, Rajouri Police today inaugurated `Woman Cell’ in District Police Lines and also started 24X7 woman helpline number.
A programme was held in District Police Lines in which SSP Rajouri, Dr Haseeb Mughal was the chief guest while other senior police officers including DySP Operations Iftkhar Qureshi, DySP DAR Kewal Krishan Sharma, DySP Shazia Mir, SHO Rajouri Yaspaul Jamwal were also present. The new ‘Woman Cell’ was inaugurated and was made fully functional on the occasion.
Besides this, 24×7 woman helpline number: 01962-260239 was made functional and started for receiving complaints over woman crimes. While addressing media person SSP Rajouri, Dr Haseeb Mughal said that the woman cell was earlier functioning in Gujjar Mandi Chowk but it’s building was not in good condition after which district police authorities decided to shift it to District Police Lines where it has been inaugurated today.
He added that 24X7 helpline number will be kept functional round the clock on which females and general people can lodge complaint over any sort of crime against women and stern approach will be made over it. SSP added that main aim of Rajouri police is to keep a check over the crime against woman.
