New batch of 743 pilgrims leave base camps for Amarnath

SRINAGAR :  A new batch of 743 pilgrims, including women and sadhus, left Nunwan Pahalgam and Baltal base camps for the Holy Amarnath cave shrine early this morning.
The weather was very pleasent and the pilgrimage, which commenced from June 28, was going on smoothly, a yatra official official said.
However, he said the number of pilgrims, undertaking the pilgrimage has come down.
The official said 430 pilgrims, including women and sadhus, left  Baltal base camp early this morning for the holy cave. They are likely to reach the cave shrine this afternoon and some of them may start their return journey immediately after paying obeisance.
He said the pilgrims who had darshan at the cave shrine last evening have also started their return journey to base camp this morning.
Official said 313 yatris also left Nunwan Pahalgam  base camp early this morning for the cave shrine. They included sadhus and women, he said, adding the pilgrims will have a night halt at Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route.
He said the pilgrims, who had night halt at different  halting stations on the track have also started their onward journey to holy cave.
