Nehru reviews functioning of JMC

JAMMU, Nov 16: Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department Satish Nehru reviewed the functioning of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and discussed in detail about the implementation of the Centrally sponsored schemes under JNNURM.
Nehru discussed the progress regarding flats under construction at Sunjwan and In-situ BSUP cases and instructed that the work be expedited.
Secretary instructed for initiating process of identification of eligible beneficiaries who could be allotted the flats, besides developing common facilities at the site so that the infrastructure is put to optimum use.
Issues regarding construction of abattoir, realization of user charges and control measures for stray animals were also reviewed in detail.
He instructed for ensuring the implementation of provisions of Municipal Corporation Act and advised that revenue targets should be achieved in full and municipal services to the citizens should be rendered with full dedication. He asked the Engineering section to ensure that quality and cost parameters in their work are observed without any compromise.
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Kiran Wattal briefed the Secretary about the ongoing development works and apprised him about the achievement in this regard.
Among other present in the meeting were Joint Director Planning, Joint Commissioner (Adm), Secretary, Joint Commissioner (W), Chief Accounts Officer, Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Executive Engineers, etc.
