Need to unite against divisive forces: Shaheen

BANIHAL, May 25: National Conference leader and District Ramban president, Sajjad Shaheen today sent out a message of unity among the people, asking  people in general and party cadres in particular to “unite against forces who attempt to destroy our UT and divide its people.”
It was stated by him during the one day Party delegate convention at Banihal.
He said, “Nowadays, people of J&K are facing a great crisis and are concerned whether their democratic, constitutional and fundamental rights will continue to exist. Every citizen has democratic and fundamental rights, freedom of speech, property rights and right to education. However, we are now facing a genuine crisis where ‘divide and rule’ is being made into a law.
He said that the communal forces were destined to get decimated in the ensuing assembly elections whenever they are held in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir saying that “there was no alternative to National Conference as the Party has strived for ensuring peace and undertaking development during most testing times.
He described that NC as a deep rooted public movement and has been striving for assuaging the politico-developmental aspirations of all segments of people. He referred to the historic role of the National Conference in generating political awakening and making the people masters of their own destiny.
“Workers of NC are epitome of sacrifice and selfless service who have withstood all challenges and proven their loyalty towards people, party and its leadership,” he said.
Those who spoke on the occasion include District vice presidents Mohd Afzal Wani, Saif Ud Din Dar, Abdul Aziz Pachu, Parvez Ahmed Sheikh, Block presidents Haji Abdul Ahad Shan, Riyaz Ahmed Mir, Nisar Ahmed Sohil and many others.
