JAMMU, Oct 16: Stating that the recent killing of Puran Kumar Bhat, a resident of Shopian (Kashmir) has sent shockwaves amongst the displaced Kashmiri Pandit (KP) population, Panun Kashmir said that there is a need to have a relook at the entire security apparatus provided to the displaced community.
In a hurriedly organized meeting, Panun Kashmir deliberated upon the serious security situation obtaining in Kashmir related to the minority Kashmiri Pandit community. Virender Raina while expressing his shock said that there seem to be chinks in their armour and those need to be plugged at the war footing. He said that they are losing young men, whose only fault is that they are Hindus and nationalist to the core.
“There seems to be a network of informers who can be anyone and also with hybrid terrorists operating freely, minorities in Kashmir are in imminent danger. The entire security architecture of the state needs to be revisited and a mechanism needs to be devised so as to provide foolproof security to the few hamlets of KPs still existing in the Valley,” he added.
Raina said the time has also come when all the nationalist forces of the state need to come together and give a befitting response to the menace of terrorism operating from Pakistan with the help of their surrogates here. In the meeting, it was demanded that the wife of Puran Bhat be immediately provided a compensation of one crore rupees and a suitable Government job.
“Killings of the minorities in Kashmir have proved that the only long term solution to this problem is the creation of a separate Homeland for Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir,” Raina asserted.
