KATHUA, Oct 16: In furtherance to tighten noose on bovine smuggling menace, a manhunt was launched by Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua R C Kotwal against bovine smuggling and 31 bovines were rescued and two vehicles (trucks) were seized in Rajbagh area.
A police team led by Inspector Amit Sangra, SHO Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border Pankaj Soodan during naka/checking duty at NHW Rajbagh noticed two suspicious vehicles bearing Nos. JK08E-4872 & JK02AQ-5369 which were being driven by two unknown persons who were enrouted from Punjab side towards Jammu were signalled to stop for checking.
On seeing naka party, drivers of the vehicles managed to flee away from the spot.During checking, the police team was able to rescue 15 bovines from truck No. JK08E-4872 & 16 bovines were seized from truck bearing No. JK02AQ-5369.
Two different cases have been registered at Rajbagh and further investigation is going on.Ooverall, 31 bovines were rescued.
