JAMMU, Nov 17: Member Rajya Sabha and national general secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party Narinder Kashyap today declared five more party candidates to contest Assembly elections in the State.
Talking to media-persons here today, Mr Kashyap said that a PDP leader and State president of J&K Gujjar -Bakerwal Federation Showkat Choudhary who joined party recently has been given party mandate from Jammu East Assembly constituency. He said that Ashutosh Gupta, president All J&K Tour and Travel Association also joined BSP recently.
Mr Kashyap further announced that Shiban Ji Langeh has been given the party mandate from Gool Arnas, S Jawahar Singh from Gulabgarh, Mohd Rafiq Inqalabi from Kalakote while Rakesh Kumar Bhagat from Chhamb (Khour).
He further disclosed that BSP national president and former UP Chief Minister, Kumari Mayawati would address large election rally at Jammu on December 7.
The BSP leader declared that the party has already installed 55 candidates and with five new candidates today, the total 60 BSP candidates have been cleared to contest elections. The party would take decision with regard to some more seats but it will contest only from those areas where party has good chances.
Responding to another question, Mr Kashyap said that BSP leaders in Valley and other parts are giving conflicting and confusing statements on Article 370. He said at present there is no need to harp on such issues. It is better to focus on the issues like relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people and Pak firing victims of Jammu border belt besides providing basic amenities to the people. He further said that some people are playing politics over AFSPA. He said as long as there is threat to the life and property of the people in the State from terrorists, it should continue. Moreover, if it is enforced for the protection and safety of the citizens, what is harm in continuing with it. He cautioned the people to remain vigilant from the people who are harping on such ticklish issues. The development should be the main agenda of all the parties and groups and the people also want development and peace.
