NDPI demands restoration of statehood

JAMMU, Aug 2: National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) J&K UT, president, Rajesh Gupta today demanded restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is the most popular demand of people of the Jammu and Kashmir and the Government must realise that they should not continue with the status of Union Territory,” said Gupta, adding that the Government should initiate political process in the J&K, because the general public is suffering badly due to public-Government contact deficit.
Gupta demanded that an economic package for Katra based small scale business establishments and people associated with the tourism sector, traders, industries, hoteliers and their employees.
He appealed the Government to subsidize the 50% fixed cost of these business establishments and waive off their electricity bills. “The payment should not be deferred but it should be waived off. I feel people in J&K are not in condition to pay interest,” he said
