SRINAGAR, May 4: National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah today said that the party will fight for restoration of rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir if given opportunity.
He asked people to make a decision if their daily life has improved after August 5, 2019 and everything is fine. “But if your life has not improved, then you need to make sure that the NC wins with a thumping majority. If unemployment has reduced here and your children are employed, electricity supply has improved, electricity bills have come down, water supply is uninterrupted and if your roads have improved, then without doubt you should vote for lotus, apples, buckets, pens and bats, but if everything is the opposite, then you should make the NC a success through your vote,” he said.
Omar Abdullah, the party’s nominated candidate for Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, made these comments after he kick started his election campaign from Beerwah constituency. He addressed back to back workers’ conventions, public gatherings, road shows and rallies at 24 places. He was accompanied by party treasurer Shami Oberoi, political conciliator Mudassar Shahmiri and in-charge Dr Muhammad Shafi, senior leaders Muhammad Ibrahim and other leaders.
Omar Abdullah in his address said, “As an MLA I worked in every area of Beerwah but unfortunately the work has stopped where I left off in 2018. Be it water supply schemes, installation of electricity transformers, wires and poles, construction of road projects or other projects, all the work has stopped where I left it.”
He said that during the past years the rulers did injustice with the common people. “Today I have come to ask for your vote and I request you to vote for me and give me an opportunity to work again, where your sweat is, there will be my blood,” he said and appeal the public to ensure the success of the NC in the Parliamentary elections and future Assembly elections, and give them an opportunity to fight for their rights.
