JAMMU, Feb 11: National Conference today expressed concern over release of just one installment of compensation to the 1947 PoK and Chamb Refugees against the commitment of Rs 25 lakh per family, saying that the administration has failed in mitigating their vexed problems.
Addressing a day long conference of the Youth National Conference at Bhore Camp today, Provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta sought development of the refugee colonies and adequate avenues of progress and development to these segments of the refugees.
Gupta, who was chief guest at the conference said that much has not been done for the rehabilitation of these refugees as the Centre had released just Rs 20,000 crore for the purpose, which is too meager keeping in view the huge requirements.
He also referred to the draft Delimitation Commission recommendations and said that the people have overwhelmingly rejected these because of illogical and irrational conclusions. He described the draft as bizarre and anti-people.
Speaking on the occasion, Youth NC Provincial president Aijaz Jan also rejected the Delimitation Commission draft, saying the most bizarre recommendation about the clubbing of Poonch-Rajouri districts with Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency sans reason and logic. He said that the additions and deletions in the assembly segments too is not acceptable to the people.
Jan exhorted the youth to gear up for meeting the challenges faced to Jammu and Kashmir. He said youth have huge role to play in steering out the state from the present morass. He said the National Conference alone can bring political stability in this part of the country.
Zonal president Sandeep Singh organised the programme. Senior leaders Israr Khan (Lali), Gourav Kapoor, Pinkey Khalsa, Tajinder Singh, Parvinder Singh, Davinder Singh, Tarsame Lal, Makhan Singh were also present.
Meanwhile, YNC today staged a strong protest against the anti-youth policies adopted by the J&K Government. The Youth NC activists led by Tajinder Pal Singh (Aman), District president YNC Jammu assembled in front of Press Club here and raised slogans against the J&K Government.
Talking to reporters, Tajinder condemned the lathi-charge and detention of protesting aspirants of J&K Police Border battalion. He said that it is a matter of serious concern as the career of so many youth despite having qualified the physical test. He criticized the Government for its decision to cancel all the posts advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) and Services Selection Board (SSB) prior to October 31, 2019.
