Kathua, Feb 11: Cycling Association of J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports Council organised District Cycling Championship wherein cyclists from Kathua as well as its adjoining areas participated in various age groups, here today.
In under-23, Sujal, Abhinav and Tarun stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, while in under-19, Rahul Singh, Nishant Verma and Aayush remained 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and in under-17, top three positions were secured by Darshan Kumar, Kumar Ansh Salotra and Parth Sangra respectively, besides in under-12, Harsh, Agman and Madhvi Sambyal clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
The event was flagged off by Ranjeet Singh JKAS, Deputy Commissioner Tax Kathua in presence of Haroon Rashid JKAS, AD CAPD Kathua as the chief guests, while SS Gill (General Secretary Cycling Association J&K) were Om Parkash Sharma (Associate Secretary) were also present during the event.
More than 60 cyclists participated in the competition. SS Gill, while interacting with the media disclosed the annual calendar of the championships. He asked the parents of the participants to encourage their children towards cycling to make them fit and healthy.
Other office bearers of the Association including Tajinder Singh, Balvinder Kumar, Gourav Verma, Lukesh Sharma, Ravi Kumar Jassal, Kewel Krishan and Vivek Sharma were also present during the event.
