NC remembers Sheikh, calls for release of party leaders

JAMMU, Sept 8: National Conference leadership today called for unconditional release of all the political leaders including party president Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and other party leaders who were detained by the State Administration headed by Governor Satya Pal Malik, following the decision of the Central Government to scrape Article 370 & 35 A of the Constitution.
While speaking at a party function at Kishtwar on 37th death anniversary of Sheikh Mohd Abdullah, party district president Tanveer Ahmed Kichloo, paid tributes to Late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah and recalled his sacrifices. He also demanded rich tributes to the towering leader.
A group of senior party leaders who assembled at the party office also paid rich tribute to the late party founder Sheikh Abdullah and said that the decision to sign an accord with the Union of India is based on its secular credential. They added that the party leadership instead of preferring a newly originated Pakistan for merger of the State being as Muslim dominated, choose India with the hope that its people will live with peace and happiness.
Describing Sheikh Abdullah as the architect and founder of educative, progressive and secular democratic society in Jammu and Kashmir based on justice, equality and amity between all regions and sections of the society, the party leaders said that decision of Union Government will leave deep impression in the young minds of the Jammu and Kashmir which has been demoted and bifurcated into two Union Territories. They said that there is immediate need to release all the political leaders, social activists, bar members who had been lodged in various jails across the country.
The speakers also called for immediate restoration of communication lines by restoring mobile network and internet services added any delay on part of the government to end 35 days long lockdown with further alienate the people of the Jammu and Kashmir and the bridge between the people and the government will further increased.
They also urged upon the party leader to maintain peace & communal harmony under all circumstances.
Udhampur unit of National Conference also paid rich tributes to Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohd Abdullah on his 37th death anniversary and highlighted contribution of the towering leader in strengthening Hindu-Muslim-Sikh unit in the State.
A function in this connection was organized at NC District office Udhampur under the leadership of District president Sunil Verma, who threw light on the life and vision of Sheikh Abdullah. He also referred to the sacrifices made by thousands of NC leaders and expressed concern over house arrest of towering leaders. He demanded immediate release of all the political leaders. Among those who also spoke on the occasion, included KD Sharma, Mohd Khalil and Moti Lal.
