General Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Youth Development Forum, Ranbir Singh, said the civic polls exposed the duplicity of the Peoples Democratic Party and National Conference as both the parties fielded proxy candidates across State and they are planning to repeat same in the upcoming Panchayat polls.
“Despite announcing boycott of all elections, why are they fielding proxy candidates. If they really feel that this election would affect the special status of the State their MLAs and MLCs should resign from their memberships,” he said during a press conference here, adding the parties are misleading people with such acts.
While announcing their participation in the upcoming Panchayat elections, president, Jammu and Kashmir Youth Development Forum, Muneer Chaudry, said these elections are for the redressal of local issues and has nothing to do with the issue of Article 35 A. “These elections are meant for redressal of the local issues of the people”, he said. He, however, added that by boycotting the election the PDP and NC have made grounds clear for the Bhartiya Janata Party.
He said they are fighting to keep BJP away. “At least 23 candidates from their Forum are participating in phase 1 of the elections. Nearly 400 candidates will participate in all the phases. All this is done to keep BJP away,” he added.
