NC, PDP deprived OBCs of their rights: Sood

Srinagar, Sept 6:BJP co -incharge J&K, Ashish Sood today lambasted National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for depriving the OBC people in J&K of their rights.
Addressing a party function at Tagore Hall here, where over two dozen political workers from various parties joined BJP, he held these two parties responsible for the discrimination to which the OBCs in J&K were subjected even after the Mandal Commission report.
He said a student belonging to OBC category from J&K could not get admission in Delhi College or in any other State of the country under OBC category as he does not possess the certificate.
Sood also criticized the National Conference president, Dr Farooq Abdullah and PDP chief, Mehbooba Mufti for depriving the Gurkhas and Valmiki Samaj from voting rights and said that under the new arrangement and with the abrogation of Article 370 these people will now get the voting right and BJP is committed to it.
He also criticized Mehbooba Mufti for demanding talks with Pakistan and said holding of talks with Pakistan is under the domain of Government of India. Sood said PDP is a marginalised force now and no one takes Mehbooba seriously.
The BJP leader said service to people has been the motto of the party since the formation of Jana Sangh in 1952. Though the party lost elections at that time but its cadre worked for the welfare of the nation and its people. Sood said “Before a decade we could not expect to have a Deputy CM in J&K but it was the result of the dedication and hard work of party activists that BJP became main stakeholder in Government formation in J&K in 2014”.
Ashish Sood said that BJP has now become the world’s largest political party that rules a country of over 1.4 billion people and has governments in as many as 18 states.
“Look at how BJP expanded its footprint to nearly every corner of India and became the mainstay of Indian politics under the dynamic leadership of PM Narendra Modi,” he said.
He said that those who joined the BJP had a firm belief in the policies adopted by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi-led Union Government.
More than two dozen political workers, including a former Legislator, today joined the BJP during a function.
Ashish Sood, and BJP general secretary, organisation J&K, Ashok Koul welcomed the new entrants, along with hundreds of their supporters, into the party fold.
They welcomed the senior leaders, including Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi, Apni Party leader, retired SP Farooq Ahmed Reshi Retired, Ghulam Rasool Dar former Chief Enforcement Officer, SMC, Sajid Yousif, Asif Iqbal Khan, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Mohammad Ashraf Wani and Mohammad Amin Bhat.
Many leaders including former MLC Showkat Gayoor said that they were impressed by the progressive policies of the BJP and the clear vision of PM Narendra Modi.
While welcoming these people into the party fold, BJP’s general secretary (org) Ashok Koul said that the State was marred by corruption, nepotism, and family rule, because of which people have been suffering.
