SOPORE, Feb 5: President, Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek (JKBT) and former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil, today said the greed for power between National Conference, PDP and Congress is a main reason for the prevailing chaos and insecurity in Kashmir and said these parties can go to any extent for the sake of power.
“NC and PDP are big hurdles in the resolution of Kashmir. If they come together and get united and use their influence, they will solve the issues and put an end to atrocities in Kashmir but for the sake of power these parties surrender everything in the past and will continue to do the same”, Vakil said while addressing party convention in Nowpora, Sopore today.
The JKBT president said the NC has a history that despite the party was repeatedly betrayed by Congress, but for the sake of chair it always compromised and shook hands with Congress. “From Sheikh Abdullah to Farooq Abdullah and now Omar Abdullah, NC was humiliated, ditched by Congress, but every time these opportunist politicians for the sake of power embraced Congress.
Vakil said that PDP is nothing different than Congress, saying, the Muftis fought elections to keep BJP away from Kashmir, but later aligned with them to grab the power and made a historic betrayal with its own people and people will never forget that. Both NC and PDP have a history of betrayals and it is because of the secret pacts of both these dynastic parties, Kashmir is suffering and paying hugely.
The former Minister also said that present Government has crossed all the levels of mental bankruptcy and is hell bent to push Kashmir into 2008, 2010 or 2016 like situation. Decision of the Government to hold Panchayat elections is a reflection of same, he said, adding, it is clear now that Government is completely unaware of the existing ground realities.
He said once peace and tranquility gets restored and is visible on ground, everyone will be in favour of holding of elections but at present holding any election will be at the cost of peace of the State and lives of common people.
