JAMMU, Feb 5: Minister for Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction and Floriculture, Javaid Mustafa Mir, today reviewed arrangements being put in place by different departments for upcoming Maha Shivratri festival.
The Minister took a detailed review of preparations being done by the departments to install their stalls for display/ sale of their products in the Shivratri Haat at Jagti, Purkhoo, Muthi, Buta Nagar and Nagrota Migrant Camps during Shivratri celebration.
While reviewing arrangements and steps being taken up by the Department of Relief and Rehabilitation in this regard, the Minister said that the focus must be laid on ensuring all facilities for smooth and hassle free celebration the festival.
Minister directed the Rural Sanitation Department to ensure proper cleanliness in and outside each and every migrant camp and ensure installation of dust bins there. He asked the Director Health Jammu to make sure that medical facilities are available round the clock in these camps. He also asked for taking due care of security issues during the festival and directed SP to provide adequate security personnel in these areas.
Threadbare discussion was held on several issues like traffic management, leveling of roads leading to these camps, installation of stalls of handloom and handicraft, providing of quality mutton and fish by Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department, food stall by JKTDC besides ensuring uninterrupted electricity, drinking water etc.
The Minister further directed Director FCS&CA Jammu to constitute a special team to monitor quality of products to be sold during festival days. He directed the officers of floriculture to maintain the gardens and parks in and around these camps and set up their stall for catering to the needs of the people for the festival.
Minister also directed the Tourism Department to ensure wide publicity of the festival.
The officials of Health, Police, Floriculture, Agricul-ture, Fire & Emergency, PDD, Tourism, Horticulture, Handl-ooms, Industries & Commerce, PHE, FCS&CA, Fisheries Departments besides officers of Relief and Rehabilitation attended the meeting.
