NC demands Pahari status for Chenab region

BANIHAL, Dec 25: District Ramban National Conference (NC) president, Sajjad Shaheen has demanded Pahari status for the entire Chenab region including Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts of erstwhile district Doda.
Claiming that people living in this region speak Pahari language, thus deserve to be considered for benefits of reservations as applicable to this particular category, the NC leader said that Chenab region residents speak Pogli (Khahsha), Siraji, Bhaderwahi, Bhalasvi, Kishtwari and Padri dialects which should be brought under the ambit of Pahari languages and the people concerned should be provided with the benefits of reservation.
He claimed that the entire Chenab region has a composite culture and apart from Kashmiri and Dogri languages, the main dialects spoken in these districts are Pogli (Khahsha), Siraji, Bhaderwahi, Bhalesvi, Kishtwari and Padri in addition to Gojri and Gaddi dialects.
