JAMMU, Apr 29: Natrang is starting its much awaited regular theatre programme for children “Natrang Children Weekend Club” from this week.
This was informed here today by Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur in a press briefing at Natrang Studio Theatre. He said in the present day life, which is full of competition, children are required to be mentally alert and physically active, and this ‘Weekend Club’ would be a rejuvenating experience for children as it offers a wholesome training for body and mind through the most developed techniques of theatre and arts.
The curriculum of this year-long theatre programme where children would be coming on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year has been designed by Balwant Thakur.
He disclosed that the Weekend Theatre would be conducted by Sumeet Sharma, a recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi’s National award for youth in Theatre Direction, Neeraj Kant- a veteran theatre artist and Aarushi Thakur, a young theatre director and a trained artist at RADA (London), while the curriculum of this year-long theatre programme is designed by him.
The workshop is being coordinated by Mohd Yaseen while many other experts of different art-fields like Music, Dance, Painting etc would be coming as visiting faculty to impart a vast knowledge and exposure to the participants, he said, adding National School of Drama has also been roped in to provide expert faculty to Natrang.
