JAMMU, May 17: Theatre group ‘Natrang’ here today staged Hindi play ‘Do Kalakaar’ written by Bhagwati Charan Verma and directed by Neeraj Kant.
Election Commissioner of J&K, Shantmanu was chief guest on this occasion and he lauded the efforts of Natrang in promoting the theatre culture and nurturing new talents.
Earlier Padma Shri Balwant Thakur informed that Natrang is the only theatre organisation of India which is running weekly theatre series without any break since the last twenty two years.
The play shows ‘Churamani’ and ‘Martand’ as two friends and both are artists-one poet and another painter. They had once aspired to rule Bollywood with their creative strengths.
The poet had dreamt of becoming top Hindi Film lyricist and the painter had set a goal for himself to become the most sought after art director of the tinsel town but destiny lands them in a situation where both are forced to use their creative energies in creating situations and cooking stories to escape the harassment of their landlord who has not been paid the rent of a dingy room for the last six months.
Artists who performed in the play were Aadesh Dhar, Kushal Bhat, Arnav Dhotra, Gautam Rattan and Akash Wadhwan; lights were executed by Neeraj Kant; the play was coordinated by Pawan Verma and the presentations were done by Nikshay Mahajan.
