4 drug peddlers held with heroin from Jammu, Reasi

JAMMU, May 17: Police today claimed they have arrested four alleged drug peddlers and recovered heroin-like substance from their possession in separate operations in Jammu and Reasi districts.
In Jammu district, a team from Police Post Sidhra under Police Station Nagrota apprehended two persons during naka checking at Sidhra and recovered approximately 6.17 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession.
The accused were identified as Kuldeep Kumar and Sahil Kumar, both residents of Qasim Nagar, Narwal.
Police said the duo was travelling in an E-Rickshaw bearing registration number JK02DR-5932 when intercepted.
They were accordingly booked in case FIR number 134/2026 under Sections 8, 21, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation set into motion.
In another operation in the Gadigarh area of Jammu, Police Post Gadigarh apprehended one alleged drug peddler during naka checking at Balol Bridge near Rohi Morh.
The accused, identified as Vishal Kumar of Laswara, Bishnah, was intercepted while riding a motorcycle bearing registration number PB10CY-3681.
During his search, police recovered approximately 6.88 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
He was taken into custody and a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered for further investigation.
Meanwhile, Police in Reasi district arrested one alleged drug peddler and recovered around 53 grams of heroin from his possession near Khadi Shiv Temple on Reasi-Katra Road.
The accused was identified as Mohammad Qayoom alias Babu, a resident of Karua near JNV Katra.
Police said action was taken following specific information about his involvement in drug smuggling and distribution.
Accordingly, FIR number 89/2026 under Sections 8, 21 and 22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Reasi.
