SRINAGAR, Sept 15: A National Art Exhibition, organized by the Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Trust (MSCBMT) and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Union Government, concluded successfully here today.
A statement said that the event aimed to promote art and culture awareness and education in Jammu and Kashmir.
The week-long workshop started on September 6, 2023, at the JKTDC Guest House, set in the picturesque location of Chashmashahi in Kashmir.
The event had notable figures in attendance, including Rashmi Singh, Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, as the Chief Guest. Other prominent individuals included the Registrar Protocol of Kashmir University, Nasir; Director Education, Aqil; Anuj from Smart City, Deepa, wife of SSP Srinagar, and Karuna Bhandari, an art promoter, along with her family.
The highlight of the concluding function was a mesmerizing Sufi musical performance by a renowned Sufi artist, which captivated the audience.
Anuradha Rishi, Chairperson of the Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Trust, expressed her delight at the unity among the artist community, which played a crucial role in the workshop’s success.
She mentioned that discussions about promoting art and culture were held in detail with the participating artists and stakeholders in the Valley.
The Commissioner of the State Taxes Department, Rashmi Singh commended MSCBM Trust for its relentless efforts in discovering hidden talent among Valley students and enhancing their creative skills through art workshops.
Anuradha Rishi thanked Rashmi Singh for her valuable time and support, encouraging the MSCBM Trust team, participating artists, and students in furthering art and culture in the Valley.
She noted that such workshops have received a positive response in the Valley, with both students and parents expressing happiness over these educational and skill-enhancing initiatives.
On behalf of MSCBM Trust, Anuradha Rishi assured students and parents that their request to increase the frequency of art and culture workshops would be considered, with a decision to follow soon.
This workshop, themed ‘Vanishing Art and Culture of J&K’ with a focus on tribal art, featured renowned artists like Anas Sultan, Kishore Kumar, Gopal Krushna Samantray, Vijay Kumar, Digbijayee Khatua, Javaid Iqbal, Mohd Yusuf Baccha, Masood Hussain, and Prof Zahoor Zargar.
