JAMMU, Feb 28: Two day national symposium on Interdisciplinary Sciences NISS-II 2015 concluded at GGM Science College here today.
Eminent academicians and scientists of international repute, delegates, researchers and scholars participated in the programme and deliberated upon the latest scientific trends.
During the mega event different technical sessions were held in which plenary talks, invited talks, oral presentations and poster presentations were made on various themes, like Nanotechnology, Smart Materials and characterization techniques, Crystal Engineering, Chemical Sciences, Information Technology, Life Sciences, Societal, Ethical and Environmental Sciences and their implications in the modern era.
A special session was dedicated for students in which about 50 oral and poster presentations were made by them.
The purpose of conducting the symposium was to broaden and enrich the study of science and mathematics by exploring the links between the various scientific disciplines and their connection with the external world. About 350 participants from different universities, research institutes and degree colleges participated in the event.
In the valedictory function Prof SK Jain, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Katra, was the chief guest, whereas Parveez Malik, Commissioner/ Secretary, Department of Science and Technology presided over the function. Prof RP Tandon, Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi and Prof Atul Khanna, Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar were the guests of honour whereas, Prof TA Kawoos, Director Colleges was the special guest on the occasion.
Prof Satinder Singh, Principal of the College welcomed the dignitaries and other guests.
Dr SK Jain said that such assemblage of scientific community provides a platform for exchange of latest ideas and trends.
Parvez Malik, Prof RP Tandon and Prof Atul Khanna also spoke on the occasion.
Prof TA Kawoos said that such educational exercises will benefit the students who are the real stakeholders.
In the end, vote of thanks was presented by Prof Rajinder Singh, Department of Chemistry.
The programme was anchored by Prof Alpana Vohra, Department of Zoology.
