HYDERABAD, Feb 17: The two day long National Seminar on topic ‘Advanced Iron Ore Beneficiation and Sustainable Low Grade Iron Ore Utilization’, concluded here today.
The Seminar was organized by the Mining Engineers’ Association of India, Hyderabad Chapter and the country’s largest iron ore producer – NMDC.
Speaking on the concluding function, Chief Guest, Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge) NMDC said, “Advanced beneficiation and the sustainable utilization of low-grade iron ore represent a critical challenge and an opportunity for our industry. We at NMDC, have a special focus on maximum resource utilization and circularity. By pushing the boundaries with innovation and technology transfer while committing to ESG, we can not only meet the demands of the present but also secure a resilient and responsible future for the iron ore industry.”
During the two days of the conference, three technical sessions were conducted and 14 papers were presented by students, research fellows, and industry experts from University of Hyderabad, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, NMDC, AM/NS, TATA Steel, JSW, and MSPL among others. The final panel discussion deliberated on the way forward and policy interventions required.
MEAI Hyderabad Chapter and NMDC celebrated the stalwarts of the Indian Mining Industry by honouring V.S. Rao, K.K. Biran, P.R. Tripathi, S.K. Agarwal, Murli Manohar, and V.D. Rajagopal for their invaluable contributions.
S.N. Mathur, President MEAI, M. Narsaiah, Secretary General, MEAI and Vinay Kumar, Director Technical NMDC and Chairman MEAI, Hyderabad Chapter were the guest of honour during the event.
