JAMMU, Dec 12: Five-day National Meet of Research Scholars in Mathematical Sciences at University of Jammu, concluded today with a valedictory function.
In the meet, organized by the PG Department of Statistics, JU, research scholars from 25 different States of the country participated.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, dwelt about the need of such events which act as a catalyst to motivate the young researchers who are the future scientists of the country for achieving success in research. The Vice Chancellor also distributed the awards for Best Paper presentations in the meet.
The Best paper presentation award in Statistics under oral category was given to Savitri Joshi of Central University of Rajasthan and in poster category to Rahul Sharma of JU while the Best Paper presentation award in Mathematics under oral category was given to Namita of Delhi University. In poster category, first award was given to Shittal Sharma of JU. Consolation awards for good presentations were given to Sarika Kushwaha, ISM, Dhanbad, Arun Kaushik, BHU, Varanasi, Banarsi Lal, University of Jammu, Sachin Sharma, Delhi University, Isha Gupta, JU and Preety Rattan of PU Chandigarh.
Vote of thanks was given by Prof Rahul Gupta, Head of Department of Statistics and Co- Coordinator of the meet.
Earlier, Prof J P Singh Joorel, Dean Mathematical Science and Coordinator of the meet, presented the report of the five-day event.
Prof V D Singh Director DDE, Prof Dalip Singh Jamwal , Prof Isha Diwan, Jai Kumar, Dr K S Charak, Dr Romesh Kumar, Dr Pawan Kumar, Dr Parmil Kumar, Dr V K Shivgotra, Dr Romesh K Gupta and Dr Jitender Khajuria were among other faculty members and officers of the University of Jammu, who were present on the occasion. Neha Sharma conducted the proceedings of the valedictory function.
