National conference on doubling farmers’ income from Feb 8

JAMMU, Feb 4: Society for Integrated Development of Agriculture, Veterinary and Ecological Science (SIDAVES) & SKUAST-Jammu are going to organize a national conference on theme “Innovative technological interventions for doubling the farmer’s income.
Deliberations in the three-day conference from February 8 to 10 will be held by more than 400  distinguished scientists and policy makers from different parts of  India,  having specialization in the field of agriculture, veterinary and ecological sciences.
Issues pertaining to research, development and administration will be identified and resolutions, recommendations and innovations will be passed on to State Governments, Govt of India, ICAR, SAUs, Development Departments and Farmers.
This was informed during a press conference, here today, by Dr J P Sharma, Director Research SKUAST-J and organizing secretary of the conference.
SIDAVES is a non-profit social and scientific organization encompassing diverse areas of socio-economic growth of human society through excellence in science, academics and ecology development with its core contention of Vasudaev Katumbakam Parma Sukham (the whole world is a family and SIDAVES strives for its sustainable development).
Dr  Vikas Sharma, joint organizing secretary of the conference elaborated  that Prime Minister of India,  Narendra Modi’s determination to double farmers’ income by 2022 has become country’s resolution to explore the plethora of technological options to find out the strategic package to achieve the target and this conference is one step towards the goal of doubling the farmer income.
Dr Vikas Sharma, president Teaching Association, SKUAST-J, further said that present conference on theme “Innovative Technological interventions to double farmers’ income” has been conceived with exclusive objective of micro-analysis of agro-technological box to chalk out new initiatives required to increase net income of farmers.  Dr  Vivak M  Arya, Convener  Press & Media,  elaborated few of the thematic areas of the conference, which are Integrated Nutrient Management, Integrated farming / farming system approach, climate resilient agriculture practices, natural resource management, new varieties and breeds, Vertical farming (soil less cultivation, rooftop farming, hydroponics etc) organic farming / quality assurance,  ecological integrity, animal husbandry, milk production & ICT.
Dr Narinder Panotra, Co -Organizing secretary and Dr Rajeev Bharat, Vishwa Vikas Sharma were also present in the press conference.
