Nath is new VC CUK

Srinagar, Mar 31: Government of India today appointed Professor A Ravinder Nath, Dean, Faculty of Technology, Osmania University, Hyderabad, as the Vice Chancellor of the Central University, Kashmir.
A communication sent in this regard to the Registrar, Central University of Kashmir, Green Campus, Duderhama, Ganderbal read: “…President in her capacity as the Visitor of Central University of Kashmir has been pleased to appoint Prof. A. Ravinder Nath…as the Vice Chancellor of Central University of Kashmir as per Statute 2 of Central Universities Act, 2009 for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office, or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.”
The terms and conditions of the services of Prof. A. Ravinder Nath as the Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir, the communication stated, will be those as set forth in the Act, Statutes and Ordinances of the University.
Prof. Nath holds degrees in Industrial Chemistry from Kakatiya University in Warangal, Chemistry at the Master’s and doctoral levels from Osmania University, Biotechnology at the Master’s level from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Hyderabad, and Pharmacy at the doctoral level from Stony Brook University (formerly SUNY), Stony Brook, New York, USA.
He has also held the positions of Professor and Head Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology, at Osmania University; Dean, Development and UGC Affairs at MANUU; and Dean, Academic Affairs, at Osmania University.
He dealt with academic policy, planning, and execution in his previous role as an academic administrator. Prof. Nath joined Osmania University in 1991 and has worked there for more than 30 years as a performing faculty member.
He has played a key role in the launch of new academic programmes like pharmacy, food technology, and biotechnology.
The Telangana State Government also named him as the Chairman of a Committee on the Implementation of CBCS and CFSD while he has also served as a resource person and expert member for regulatory bodies that govern higher and technical education.
Due to his academic exposure and training gained through career advancement, Prof. Nath’s study interests cover a broad range of topics in technical education, human healthcare, and welfare.
His particular area of interest is process research which is creative and innovative and meets the requirements of industry, particularly in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy, and environmental science where he is also a renowned research supervisor.
He completed 14 Government-funded research projects effectively, and overall, under his supervision, 18 PhDs, 50 M.Pharmas, and 30 M.Techs have been granted.
As a researcher and Professor, Prof. Nath has received numerous honours and awards. He was the recipient of the State Government’s Incentive Fellowship Award, the CSIR’s Young Scientist Travel Award, the AICTE’s TAPTEC Award, the UGC’s Visiting Scientist Travel Award, and the PDF Award under the US Department of State’s Exchange Visitor Program.
