JAMMU, Apr 29: Police arrested a narcotic smuggler along with charas from Maheshpura Chowk, falling under the jurisdiction of GMC police post.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from GMC police post laid a naka at Maheshpura Chowk and intercepted a man, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police recovered 78 grams charas from the possession of the man and arrested him on the spot.
The narcotic smuggler has been identified as Ashu Sharma alias Banka, son of Dharam Chand of Sarwal.
A case under FIR Number 75/16 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Bakshi Nagar and investigation of the case is going on.
Police team led by Incharge GMC police post SI Deepak Katoch made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Bakshi Nagar Inspector Ashwani Sharma, SDPO West Sugandha Mahajan and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
