Nanda asks farmers to take benefit of State, Central schemes

REASI, Mar 26: A one day awareness camp-cum-Kisan-Mela was organized by the J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans under Information, Education & Communication (IEC) programme at Pouni in district Reasi today in which a large number of farmers participated.
Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Kumar Nanda, was the chief guest on the occasion and Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion Ajay Kumar Nanda advised the farming community to take maximum benefits from various farmer friendly schemes launched by the State and Central Governments and use the latest agriculture technologies for boosting their crop production.
Laying stress on research work to evolve hybrid varieties of fruit and vegetables, the Minister said that scientists should focus on the varieties which suit the local conditions. He said agro based industry has tremendous potential for employment generation which is being tapped through entrepreneurship development initiatives kick started by the present Government.
Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman Kisan Board while addressing the gathering appealed the farming community to adopt natural and organic farming and earn much more from their agricultural produce. He also informed the farmers that grievance cell stands established in the Kisan Board and they can approach the cell for timely and appropriate action for their day to day grievances and problems.
