Naib Tehsildar held taking bribe

SRINAGAR, June 17: The Anti-Corruption Bureau today caught Naib Tehsildar Sopore red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 12000 at his office.
He was accepting the bribe from the complainant for recording the mutation of a piece of land in the Revenue record.

The action was taken after a written complaint was lodged in Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau (North Kashmir), alleging that Naib Tehsildar Sopore, Fayaz Ahmad Wani was demanding bribe for recording the mutation of the land in the Revenue records.
On this complaint, a case FIR number 01/2019 under Section 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt; 2006, 4-A Amendment Act- 2014, was registered and a trap team was constituted under the supervision of Rafiq Ahmad, DySP. They laid a successful trap and caught the Naib Tehsildar red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant.
Further investigation into the case is going on, said a statement issued by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
