GANDERBAL, July 12: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today convened a meeting with district administration and representatives of civil society in Ganderbal to take stock of the prevailing law and order situation.
Officers of district administration, district police authorities and around 200 members of civil society Ganderbal participated in the meeting.
The Minister in his interaction with the representatives of civil society and senior citizens, appealed for maintaining calm. He said that Jammu and Kashmir is an example of brotherhood and communal harmony and there is a need for maintaining this centuries old tradition.
He also added that Kashmir is the land of Sufis and Saints, is a symbol of peace, amity and communal harmony and there is a need to further strengthen the tradition of tolerance and brotherhood among various communities living in this region.
He expressed his deep sympathies with those who suffered in terms of life and property during the prevailing law and order situation.
The Minister also asked the district administration to ensure hassle free movement of Yatris.
