SRINAGAR, Jan 14: Senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former Minister, Naeem Akhtar was today shifted to a hospital after he was found unconscious in his room where he is kept under detention.
He was hurriedly taken to Khyber hospital where his condition is said to be stable.
“At least a senior police officer had the courtesy to inform me around midnight that my father @shangpal in detention was in hospital after he was unconscious for 40 mins. Saved by a whisker – some days back all alone in the whole building. Grateful to his fellow detenues. Prayers!,” Akhtar’s daughter Sheryar Khanum wrote on Twitter.
Akhtar is under detention for the last nearly 20 days now and was kept in MLA hostel a few days before the counting process of the DDC election was set to begin.
The family said that Akhtar has a heart ailment and they were not handed over any formal orders regarding his arrest.
“Every doctor with degree and experience that I spoke to about my father’s condition is baffled at the need to keep a 68 year old man with acute cardiac history in sub-zero temperatures in a place that is not home,” Khanum added in her another tweet regarding her father.
