SRINAGAR, Jan 3: With the Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) in Srinagar becoming the first Accredited Textile Testing Laboratory in J&K, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) today termed it historic.
In a statement issued here, KCCI said that the move will accord due credibility and recognition to the testing being provided by the Institute in line with National and International Quality Standards.
The accreditation has been done by the Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratory (NABL), KCC&I said.
The trade body said that it has a close association with IICT and played a big role in its development and expansion, while expressing appreciation to its Director Zubair Ahmad, the Government of India, J&K Government, and officials of the institute for their role in ensuring the accreditation.
“This status of the IICT will greatly benefit the manufacturers/Exporters of Kashmir Handmade products. It is hoped that the IICT will grow from strength to strength, for which the KCCI will continue to play its active role,” the KCCI said.
