JAMMU, Mar 15: As a part of the ongoing intensive drive launched by the Motor Vehicles Department, a team of the RTO Office Jammu today conducted checking of vehicles on the National Highway between Samba and Jammu.
A large number of buses, trucks and other commercial and non commercial vehicles were booked for various offences under the Motor Vehicles Act and a fine amounting to Rs. 2.45 lakh was realized on the spot by the checking teams. A total of 98 vehicles were compounded and 28 vehicles challaned.
The team comprised of Arvind Kotwal, RTO Jammu, Kuldeep Singh ARTO Jammu, Neeraj Sharma, ARTO Jammu, Jugal Sharma, ARTO Board of Inspection, Jammu, Sunil Cannie, MVI, C.S. Billowria, MVI, Avnish Sharma, MVI and Vinod Chalotra, MVI.
During the drive, the defaulters were also given awareness about the rules and regulations as provided under the Motor Vehicles Act. A total number of 350 vehicles were checked during the drive.
