Muted demand drags down chana futures by 0.30%

NEW DELHI, May 28: Chana prices drifted down by 0.30 per cent to Rs 3,626 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, taking negative cues from spot market on sluggish demand from dal mills.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in June declined by Rs 11, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 3,626 per quintal with an open interest of 98,600 lots.
Likewise, the commodity for delivery in July contracts shed Rs 9, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 3,660 per quintal in 35,630 lots.
Market analysts attributed the slide in chana futures to offloading of positions by traders owing to tepid demand in physical market against ample stocks position. (PTI)
