Murmu sworn in as Jharkhand Governor

RANCHI :  Draupadi Murmu today took oath as the  new Governor of Jharkhand.
She is the ninth Governor of Jharkhand besides being the first tribal and woman Governor of the state.
Ms  Murmu was administered the oath of office by Jharkhand High Court’s Chief  justice Virendra Singh at a function held at the Birsa Mandap of the Raj  Bhawan.
She succeeds Syed Ahmad who has been made the new Governor  of Manipur.
Among those present in the function included  Jharkhand Chief Minister  Raghubar Das, Assembly Speaker Dinesh  Oraon, former chief minister Arjun Munda and leader of Opposition in  the state Assembly Hemant Soren .
Cabinet ministers in the state  Government and senior IAS and IPS officials of the state were also  present. (AGENCIES)
