JAMMU, Jan 28: Gangyal police foiled a murder attempt with the arrest of a hardcore criminal along with a revolver near Kunjwani area.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Gangyal police station raised a naka near Kunjwani and intercepted a pedestrian on suspicious grounds.
During checking, police recovered a revolver and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Talwinder Singh alias Tannu, son of Gurjeet singh, a resident of Model town Gangyal.
During preliminary investigation it came to fore that the accused had purchased the revolver from a person and was on its way to eliminate his rival. To dodge the police he tried to cross the police checking at Kunjwani on foot, but his nefarious designs were foiled by the active cops of Gangyal police station.
The accused was also involved in various thefts and assaults cases registered with different police stations including Gandhi Nagar, Trikuta Nagar, Channi and Gangyal police stations.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered against the accused at Gangyal police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal police station Inspector Ajay Jamwal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
