MULBPA highlights demands

JAMMU, Aug 18: A meeting of Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners’ Association (MULBPA), Jammu was held here today under the chairmanship of president of the association, BS Jamwal to highlight their demands.
The speakers demanded enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 3000 per month, keeping in view the high prices of medicines and clinical tests. They said that how Rs 300 can be sufficient for pensioners while ex-legislators are drawing Rs 10,000 per month since long on account of medical allowance.
The meeting also discussed the issue of designation of powers and as well as departments like PHE, PDD, PWD, etc to Municipal Corporations of Jammu and Srinagar like other Municipal Corporations of India. They demanded that while constituting the Finance Commission of Panchayat & Urban Local Bodies for J&K all such powers along with departments following within city zone be transferred to Srinagar/Jammu Municipal Corporations to sustain its necessities.
Those participated in the meeting were KG Khaguria, RK Gupta, BD Verma, Attar Singh, JR Sharma, JL Sharma, SK Sharma, ML Gupta, TL Gupta, Sat Pal, Balbir Singh Jamwal, Bahu-ud-Din, SK Singh Jamwal, Gurdev Singh, DP Kotwal, YS Jamwal and many others.
