Srinagar, Apr 23: Authorities today re-opened Mughal Road for the movement of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) after remaining closed for over three months.
The authorities earlier attempted to re-open the road in March but due to late set of winter coupled with strong western disturbances resulting in snowfall with heavy rains forced its closure.
“Now the opening of road has cut down the distance, transportation cost and improved accessibility,” said Deputy Commissioner Shopian G M Dar. The authorities today allowed the LMVs to play via Bulfiaz Road.
This year, the road was hit by massive slides at multiple places and the concerned authorities and workers on ground have had to face tough time in making the road through.
