JAMMU:
Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today reviewed the security situation in the State at the first Unified Command Meeting of his Government and called for holding a civil-military conference to iron out various issues including AFSPA.
The meeting, chaired by the chief minister at his residence, was attended by GOC-in-C of Northern Command Lt D S Hooda, Chief Secretary Iqbal Khanday, Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar, Home Secretary Suresh Kumar, Army corps commanders, inspector generals of BSF and CRPF, and senior officers of the Central intelligence agencies among others.
“The chief minister made a strong pitch for holding a civil-military conference to iron out all the issues with the armed forces including AFSPA,” a senior official said.
The issues to be taken up in the meeting include: AFSPA, land compensation, vacation of buildings under army’s possession, vacation of land other than that allotted to army and human rights issues.
He urged the army to undertake coordinated, actionable and intelligence-based operations to avoid collateral damages during anti-terrorist operations.
“It was the first meeting headed by the new chief minister. General situation was reviewed and routine issues were discussed,” the officer said. (AGENCIES)
