MPEJ slams those claiming Art 35A boon for Dogras

JAMMU, Mar 17: The members of Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice (MPEJ) today slammed some Jammu based NC MLAs/leaders who are claiming that Article 35A is a boon for the people of the State, especially for the Dogras.
“We disagree with these leaders completely as only the few selected people of Kashmir especially the politicians of Kashmir are being benefitted with Article 35 A,” they said and added that in Civil Secretariat there are 80 percent Kashmiris, 10 percent SC people and hardly 10 percent from others of Jammu & Ladakh regions and this all has happened during the last 65 years of Congress & NC rule in the State.
They further said, “In the recent appointments of lecturers/professors of Colleges/Higher Secondary Schools more than 80 percent people have been selected from Kashmir Division & hardly 20 percent from Jammu and Ladakh. The posts which have been created for college lecturer in Kashmiri language in Jammu Division is a Joke with Dogras”.
“Why should only Kashmiri be imposed in Jammu Division and not Dogri in Kashmir Division?” they questioned and stated that one of the many other discriminations is that the daily wagers/need based workers/contractual of Kashmir province get more than three times per month as compared to those of Jammu Province. “Is this the benefit of Article 370 and Art 35A which the Dogras are getting?,” they further questioned.
On delimitation of Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies, the MPEJ members said that in Kashmir the highest population in any Assembly constituency is hardly 70,000 and the lowest is nearly 35,000 whereas in Jammu province the highest is more than 1,50,000 the least is 70,000. “In Kashmir, no District has more than two tehsils whereas in Jammu, there are districts having more than 5 tehsils,” they said adding that the benefits of Articles 370 or 35A would be to immediately effect delimitation of constituencies as well as districts instead of waiting for 2026 or 2031.
They lamented that Jammu based NC leaders do not talk of this benefit to Dogras/people of Jammu province. “In fact the political leaders of Jammu whether from NC, Congress, PDP, NPP & BJP are concerned more about their own chairs rather than the general benefit of the common masses among the Dogras/ people of Jammu Province,” they added.
