UDHAMPUR, Aug 10: A motorcyclist died after his bike skidded off the road and slipped into deep gorge near Darsoo, here today.
The deceased was identified as Raj Mohamed, son of Kalu, resident of Latti. He was riding his motorcycle PB06AG-9972, which slipped into deep gorge resulting into serious injuries to him.
Some locals shifted him to District Hospital Udhampur where he was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his critical condition. Later he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Meanwhile, one Virendra Gupta, son of Hemraj Gupta of Housing Colony Udhampur, attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his house. The family members rushed him to District Hospital Udhampur where he was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu.
Cause of provocation behind the suicide attempt was not yet ascertained while Police has registered a case in this connection.
