REASI, Aug 10: Railway construction companies engaged for Rail line project in Reasi are allegedly damaging ecology of the area and agricultural land by dumping muck in natural water streams and Nallahs.
This was alleged by Chairman, Friends of Civil Society Trust, Reasi and Rekha Kumari, Sarpanch of Panchayat Halqa Lamsora, while addressing a joint press conference, here today.
They alleged that the Railway companies were dumping muck in the Nallahs as a result of which the water level has receded while agricultural land got damaged. “Mulba is being dumped by the Railway companies in Anji Nallah because of which agricultural land in village Ghiala is not getting irrigated. Similarly, the Railway company has constructed a residential colony in village Dugga, but filth from the bathrooms is thrown in the nallah and only source of the water for the villagers has become contaminated,” they explained.
The duo appealed the administration to take corrective measures within seven days otherwise the people would have no option other than to launch agitation.
