Motivate shopkeepers to pay professional tax: DC to Kathua MC

KATHUA Aug 29: Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer today asked the Kathua Municipal Committee to motivate shopkeepers to pay Professional Tax.
Speaking at a meeting of the elected counselors and the staff of Kathua MC, the DC said the funds collected will be invested for the development of public infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the MC apprised the DC that after issuance of business a minimal 225 establishments have registered for Professional Tax and they have deposited an amount of Rs. 136000 with the MC after publication of the notice on July 22.
The DC told the officials to motivate other shopkeepers to get themselves enrolled as the MC is charging a minimum amount of Rs. 200 p.a. from the shopkeepers.
“After registration under Professional Taxes, the business entities shall be treated as a legitimate establishment and will be benefitted as registered owners”, DC said.
He added that installation of Street Lights on College Road upto Kalibari has been discussed with Director Urban Local Bodies, Jammu and the demand will be met soon.
