SRINAGAR, June 11: Crime Branch Kashmir has unearthed a fraud by mother-son duo who had opened a facebook page in the name of a top doctor of SKIMS to dupe general public.
A case punishable under section 420 RPC, 66-(D) IT Act has been registered in connection with preparing a fake facebook account page in the name of Dr Gull Javid of SKIMS Soura and having up-loaded fake post regarding kidney failure of a patient and receiving donations and charity from general public.
The matter came into light when Crime Branch Kashmir received a complaint alleging therein that facebook page of Dr Gull Javid has uploaded a post regarding one patient namely Asif Rasool of Batmaloo, suffering from Kidney failure who needs hefty amount for his treatment, making an appeal that people are requested to deposit their donations in A/C Nos. 3665 and 3649, but in fact, there is no such patient suffering from such ailment.
During the course of verification, the CB found that Dr Gull Javid was not running any such type of facebook page while the bank A/C number 1112040100003665 and 111204010003649 mentioned there were being maintained/operated in the name of Asif Nabi Dar of Samboora Pulwama and his mother Ameena Bano at J&K Bank Polo-View Srinagar. Both the accounts were being constantly credited since long and different amounts ranging from Rs 20 to 10,000/- were credited by different people. In this manner, a huge amount was credited in these accounts and the same was being debited/withdrawn on the regular basis to ensure zero balance.
In this manner the accused fraudulently and deceitfully received lakhs of rupees, said a statement by the Crime Branch.
