KATHUA, June 11: Former Minister and president DCC Kathua Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today demanded Government to hold an in-depth enquiry into illegal and back door appointments in J&K Bank (JKB) in last 4-5 years.
While addressing monthly workers meeting at Mandli of Billawar constituency, Dr Sharma welcomed the step by Government to sack J&K Bank Chairman but said that only removing the Chairman is not the solution and emphasized for conducting in-depth enquiry into many wrong-doings in the bank which included backdoor illegal appointments, allotments of loans worth hundreds of crores without formalities in “brazen violation” of Standard Operating Procedures and release of Overdrafts of hefty amounts to habitual defaulters of other banks.
Sharma requested the Governor to investigate and cancelled illegal appointments of relatives of PDP and BJP leaders and conduct fresh and fair recruitment so that worthy can get their rights.
Dr Sharma further lambasted previous PDP-BJP Government for discrimination with Jammu division, particularly with Kathua district. He said unemployment in Kathua district is all time high and no job notification has been issued for Kathua district regarding teachers and SPOs in particular.
He said people of the area are facing major problems such as power curtailment, non-regular supply of drinking water, worse condition of roads, scarcity of ration in depots, non-availability of proper irrigation facilities, etc. He said no new project has been started in the area and the ones started during Congress regime are still waiting for completion due to non-availability of funds.
Sharma assured the people of the area that he will always raise his voice against the discrimination meted out with the people of Kathua and raise genuine demands of the masses.
